Meta Wever
Meta founded Ladybird. Law in 2014 in Hong Kong, from 2018 she offers
her services in the Netherlands. Under the motto 'cherish your business'
Ladybird. Law offers independent legal & business advise, legal interim support and subscriptions to (global) companies, (international) organisations, artists, agencies, (tech)start-ups and scale-ups. Meta has rich and broad experience and specialises in (international) commercial contracts & negotiations, IP/IT, licensing, media & entertainment, branding & marketing, e-commerce, TMC, data protection, day to day business & strategy.
Meta currently supports WaterBear Network as Legal Director and BE-Entertainment (part of DPG Media Group) as Senior Legal & Business Affairs Manager on the (global) sales and licensing of television formats. She also runs a general private practice with clients from various industries, such as (tech)start-ups, media & entertainment, marketing agencies, start ups, scale ups and artists who need ongoing legal support and to unburden legal departments.
In the past years, Meta has worked as (global) interim senior legal & business affairs manager at i.a. JDE Peet's (Jacobs Douwe Egberts), Air France KLM, XITE, DPG Media Belgium and BE-Entertainment, IMC Trading, Booking.com and DDMA where she supported global legal teams on (international) commercial contracting & negotiations, e-commerce, branding & marketing, business & strategy, corporate management, global sales and distribution, IP/IT, procurement, litigation, communication & innovation, employment law and data protection.
Between 2012 and 2018, Meta gained in-house experience as senior legal & business affairs manager at Talpa Media and ITV Studios, where she conducted international negotiations and contracts on licenses of television formats in 70 countries. She also worked on new (online) forms of exploitation of formats and concepts.
From 2006 to 2012, Meta worked as attorney at law at Versteeg Wigman Sprey advocaten, a niche firm in Amsterdam in the media & entertainment industry. She advised and litigated on IP/IT, general and global (commercial) contract law, media & entertainment law, (digital) marketing and data protection.
